Understand the role of contact, support and placement without treating any cup holder as pet-proof.
Contact is only part of the story
A drink can tip when a disturbance moves its balance beyond its support area. The container, contents, surface and direction of contact all matter. This general explanation is not a measured impact threshold or a claim about a particular pet.
Support can change without direct contact
A pet settling onto a couch may move the cushion beneath a drink even without touching the container. Check the supporting surface, not just how close the animal is to the cup. Shift the drink to another stable location if the surface moves or tilts.

What to change first

Keep human drinks separate
